PATNA--------------------------In a major push toward passenger safety and operational transparency, all government buses operating across Bihar will soon be equipped with CCTV cameras. The initiative, spearheaded by the Transport Department, aims to monitor activities inside buses in real-time, offering commuters a safer and more accountable public transport experience.
Live video footage from the cameras installed in the buses will be transmitted directly to a central control room. This will allow authorities to monitor inside conditions and track operational performance continuously.
The new system is designed to closely monitor passenger safety, particularly focusing on women and elderly commuters. In case of any dispute, misconduct, or emergency, recorded footage will make investigations significantly easier and more effective.
Beyond passenger security, the initiative will keep a close check on the conduct of drivers and staff. Any complaints regarding negligence or misconduct can now be verified against recorded CCTV evidence.
The primary focus of the Transport Department is to make state bus services more secure, transparent, and accountable. The installation of CCTV cameras is scheduled to begin in December.
