SASARAM------------------------A major drinking water infrastructure project worth Rs 2,014.65 crore is set to improve water supply facilities in Sasaram, Dehri and Aurangabad, bringing significant relief to residents of Rohtas and Aurangabad districts.

The project has received approval for financial assistance of Rs 1,774.98 crore from the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF).

Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Central Government for supporting the project. He said the initiative would strengthen drinking water infrastructure and ensure better access to clean water for people in the region.

According to the project details, surface water from the Sone River will be utilised to improve and expand the existing water supply network. The initiative is also expected to reduce dependence on groundwater and contribute to water conservation under the Jal-Jeevan-Hariyali campaign.

Initially, the project is expected to provide improved drinking water facilities to around eight lakh people. The government aims to extend its benefits to nearly 12 lakh people by 2051.

The project is expected to mark a significant step towards strengthening basic civic amenities and ensuring sustainable drinking water facilities in the three urban areas.
