ARA-----------------------Farmers are facing considerable hardship after heavy rainfall damaged the ready-to-harvest paddy crop in several agricultural fields. The rain has reportedly caused standing paddy plants to fall flat, leaving a large portion of the crop submerged in water and raising concerns over substantial agricultural losses.
Photographs from the affected fields show paddy plants lying flattened on the ground, with rainwater accumulated between the rows. Farmers fear that prolonged waterlogging could further damage the crop, reduce grain quality and adversely affect their expected yield.
The damage has come at a crucial time when farmers were preparing to harvest their paddy. The sudden change in weather has disrupted their agricultural plans and increased their financial worries. Many farmers are concerned that the losses could affect their ability to recover the expenses incurred on seeds, fertilisers, pesticides and irrigation.
The affected farmers have urged the government to take immediate notice of the situation and arrange an assessment of crop damage. They have demanded adequate compensation to help them overcome the financial losses caused by the adverse weather conditions.
Farmers also expect the concerned agricultural and district administration officials to visit the affected fields, assess the extent of the damage and ensure that eligible cultivators receive relief without unnecessary delay.
