JUDICIAL OFFICER SOUGHT EXPLANATION FROM THE CS

BUXAR---------------------------Raising concerns regarding the healthcare system at Sadar Hospital, Amit Kumar Sharma—Special Judge of the POCSO Court and District & Additional Sessions Judge—has sought an explanation from the Civil Surgeon. The matter pertains to the failure to provide timely medical treatment to Aarti Kumari, a female employee of the Civil Court, who was injured in a road accident.

According to the notice issued by the court, Aarti Kumari sustained injuries while on duty on October 30. Following a severe injury and swelling in her leg, she was taken to Sadar Hospital by court staff members Sunil Kumar and Santosh Kumar. After an initial examination and an X-ray in the emergency ward at approximately 10:30 AM, she was directed to the office of the orthopedic specialist (Room No. 13), which was found locked. It was reported that the doctor was unavailable.

Attempts were made to contact the Civil Surgeon and other officials, but no arrangements for her treatment could be made by 12:00 PM. Ultimately, the injured employee had to be admitted to the 'Mahamaya' private clinic—located within the hospital premises—where the cost for the application of a plaster cast and subsequent treatment amounted to ₹9,894.

The judicial officer has demanded an explanation regarding the doctor's absence. A copy of the notice has also been forwarded to the Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA).
