ARA---------------------------Serious questions have been raised over the condition of rural healthcare services in Bhojpur district after a video highlighting the functioning of a sub-health centre without a doctor surfaced, exposing possible shortcomings in the delivery of basic medical facilities to villagers.

The situation has brought the challenges faced by rural residents into focus, particularly those who depend on government health centres for primary treatment and medical advice. The absence of a doctor at a healthcare facility can cause considerable inconvenience to patients, especially elderly people, women and children who may have to travel to distant hospitals for medical attention.

Sub-health centres play an important role in providing primary healthcare services, maternal and child healthcare, immunisation and basic medical assistance in rural areas. However, when these facilities do not have adequate medical personnel, their ability to serve the local population is seriously affected.

The video has raised concerns about the monitoring of rural healthcare institutions and the availability of medical staff at the grassroots level. It has also brought attention to the need for effective supervision and accountability within the health department.

Local residents expect the district administration and health authorities to take cognisance of the matter, investigate the circumstances and ensure the availability of qualified medical personnel at the centre.

The incident once again highlights the need to strengthen rural healthcare infrastructure so that people living in villages can access timely and reliable medical services without having to travel long distances.
