BUXAR------------------------The main road connecting Buxar to Itarhi has become a source of trouble and a cause of accidents for commuters due to its dilapidated state. Deep potholes and waterlogging at various points have made travel hazardous. Parents, in particular, are increasingly concerned about the safety of school children who use this route daily.

This road serves not only as a link between Buxar and Itarhi but also connects Buxar to Dinara in the Rohtas district, acting as a vital route for a population of nearly two lakh people to reach the district headquarters. Despite this, no concrete steps have been taken so far to address the poor condition of the road.

The situation is worst in the stretch from near PC College—just past the Itarhi railway crossing—up to Lalganj Mor. Rainwater and overflow from drains accumulate on the road, obscuring the potholes. Consequently, unsuspecting commuters often fall into these holes and lose their balance. According to locals, incidents involving motorcycle riders and auto-rickshaws are frequently reported on this route.

Residents point out that the constant movement of heavy vehicles loaded with sand is causing the condition of many roads in the district to deteriorate. With no repairs being carried out on these crumbling roads, the hardships faced by the general public continue to mount.

Locals have urged public representatives and the administration to undertake immediate repairs on this crucial road. They emphasize that the poor state of the road is not merely a matter of travel inconvenience; it is a serious safety issue affecting school children, patients, and thousands of daily commuters. If repairs are not carried out in time, the possibility of a major accident cannot be ruled out.
