ARA--------------------------A meeting of the Peace Committee was held on Friday at the Ara Collectorate auditorium to ensure that the major festivals of Diwali and Chhath are celebrated in a peaceful, safe, and harmonious environment. The meeting was co-chaired by District Magistrate Manesh Kumar Meena and Superintendent of Police Awadhesh Dixit.

During the meeting, a comprehensive review of law and order and security arrangements in the district was conducted in light of the upcoming festivals. Officials provided updates on the status of Chhath ghats, places of worship, and sensitive locations falling under various police station jurisdictions.

Special emphasis was placed on preparations at Chhath ghats, including cleanliness, lighting, barricading, and the movement of devotees. Furthermore, directives were issued regarding security arrangements, crowd control, and traffic management at these sites.

The District Magistrate and the Superintendent of Police instructed all relevant officials to conduct physical inspections of all Chhath ghats and places of worship within their respective jurisdictions. They were directed to identify any shortcomings and ensure that all necessary arrangements are completed before the festivals.

Officials emphasized the need for heightened vigilance in crowded and sensitive areas. They directed that an adequate police force be deployed, and that regular patrolling and monitoring be ensured in such locations.

It was also directed that officials remain actively engaged in their respective areas to handle any situation that may arise during the festivals. Ensuring the safety of devotees at places of worship and Chhath ghats was highlighted as the top priority.

Given the expected increase in crowds at markets, places of worship, and along major routes during Diwali and Chhath, traffic management was also discussed. Officials were instructed to ensure smooth traffic flow, prevent congestion, and ensure that devotees do not face any difficulties in their movement. The administration has directed the relevant departments to work in coordination to ensure an effective traffic management system across both urban and rural areas during the festive period.

The District Magistrate and the Superintendent of Police have issued instructions to maintain constant surveillance on anti-social elements. Furthermore, they have called for swift action against the spread of rumors and misleading information. Officials emphasized that any attempt to disrupt peace and harmony during the festivities will be dealt with strictly.

Citizens have also been urged to disregard rumors and to immediately report any suspicious activity or misleading information to the administration or the police.

During the meeting, officials stated that the convenience and safety of the public during the festivals of Diwali and Chhath are the administration's top priority. All departments have been instructed to complete their preparations in a timely manner and to review the arrangements well before the festivals begin.

Officials noted that coordination among the administration, police, public representatives, and the general public is essential to maintaining a peaceful environment.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Manoj Kumar Sudhanshu, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Cyber) Roshan Kumar, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (Sadar-2) Ranjeet Kumar Singh, Station House Officers (SHOs) of Ara Nagar and Ara Nawada—Devraj Rai and Kumar Rajnikant respectively—along with the Traffic SHO and other relevant officials and personnel.
