COUSIN COMMITS RAPE FOR 13 YEARS

DELHI-----------------------A young woman in Delhi has accused her cousin of raping her for 13 years. She informed the police that the accused had been subjecting her to such atrocities since she was six years old. When the victim turned 12, the accused began administering contraceptive drugs to her.

A case that brings shame to familial relationships has emerged in the Bara Hindu Rao area of ​​Delhi. Due to her family's poor financial situation, the young woman had been living with her maternal relatives, where her cousin raped her for 13 years. This ordeal began when she was six years old and continued even after her marriage.

Distressed by the accused's threats, she filed a complaint at the Bara Hindu Rao police station. The police registered a case under sections related to rape and the POCSO Act, and arrested the accused on October 22. In her complaint, the 19-year-old victim stated that she previously lived with her family in the Mundka area. In 2013, when she was six, her family’s financial condition deteriorated significantly due to her father’s ill health.

Given the circumstances at home, her mother sent her to live with her maternal relatives in the Bara Hindu Rao area. Her maternal uncle’s 16-year-old son also lived there. According to the victim, her cousin began sexually exploiting her shortly after she arrived. He would take her to parks and other locations under the pretext of going for an outing, where he would sexually abuse her. He also threatened to kill her. Whenever she asked her mother if she could return home, her request was denied due to the family's dire financial situation. The victim stated that when she reached the age of 12, the accused—fearing she might become pregnant—began forcing her to take contraceptive pills. These pills caused her to fall ill, but out of fear, she never told anyone about what was happening. This continued for four to five years, during which time the accused also captured explicit photographs and videos of her.

Two years ago, the victim insisted on returning to her own home, but the accused continued to harass her, coercing her to meet him. Eventually, her family arranged her marriage.

The victim reported that the harassment persisted even after her marriage; the accused frequently threatened to reveal their past relationship to her husband. Finally, unable to endure it any longer, the victim disclosed the entire ordeal to her husband on October 8. On October 9, she went to the Bara Hindu Rao Police Station and filed a written complaint. Sub-Inspector Renu recorded the victim's statement and conducted the necessary preliminary investigation. An FIR was subsequently registered, though the accused remained at large. The police apprehended the accused.
