PATNA---------------------------The Education Department of Bihar has issued a strict state-wide directive prohibiting government school teachers and non-teaching personnel from wearing casual attire—specifically jeans and T-shirts—during school hours. Under the new mandate, all staff posted in state-run educational institutions must strictly adhere to formal, dignified clothing while on duty.
Under the official notification, teachers and administrative staff are banned from wearing casual clothes such as jeans, T-shirts, and casual tops on school premises during academic and office hours.
The department noted that continuing to wear informal attire adversely affects the academic environment, stressing that educators must set a professional example for students.
All teaching and non-teaching employees are required to wear dignified, formal dress.
The directive draws parallels to formal decorum upheld across statutory institutions, noting the importance of professional standards in educational settings.
In addition to dress code enforcement, the guidelines restrict loud entertainment, DJ setups, and unauthorized parties within school premises.
Only scheduled, disciplined cultural activities aligned with the state’s official academic calendar will be permitted.
District Education Officers (DEOs) across all 38 districts of Bihar have been instructed to ensure strict compliance and monitoring in all government institutions.
School principals and administrative heads have been authorized to report non-compliance, and warning notices will be issued to staff members violating the dress guidelines.
The measure was broadcast across national and local media networks, including BB News Hindi, confirming that strict administrative action will follow any repeat infractions.
