SASARAM-------------------------Acting on the instructions of the District Magistrate, the Food Safety Department has carried out a major operation in Dehri, seizing 10,080 kilograms of Sonpapdi—a food product valued at approximately ₹5.75 lakh.

The administration has adopted a strict stance against irregularities in food establishments and violations of food safety standards; samples have been sent to a laboratory for testing.

In order to ensure the quality of food products and provide safe, high-quality food items to the public in Rohtas district, the Food Safety Department—under the directives of the District Magistrate of Rohtas, Mr. Deepak Kumar Mishra—is conducting ongoing inspections and enforcement actions.

As part of this initiative, an inspection was carried out today, led by the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) of Dehri, at two food establishments belonging to 'Rohit Enterprises' in Jakki Bigha, Dehri. During the inspection, a serious violation of the regulations set by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) was discovered at one of the premises. The establishment was found to be manufacturing and storing large quantities of Sonpapdi without a valid license.

A substantial amount of Sonpapdi was recovered from the premises; the products lacked mandatory information such as batch numbers, manufacturing and expiry dates, and other essential details. Viewing these violations of food safety standards with the utmost seriousness, the administration seized 10,080 kilograms of Sonpapdi, with an estimated value of approximately ₹5,75,000. Samples of the seized food items have been collected and sent to a laboratory to verify their quality and compliance with safety standards.

Additionally, a second food establishment operated by Rohit Enterprises was also inspected. Due to concerns regarding potential adulteration of the ghee found on-site, a sample was collected and sent to a laboratory for testing.

Once the laboratory test reports for both food samples are received, further action will be taken in accordance with the law, based on the findings. District Magistrate Mr. Deepak Kumar Mishra has directed the Food Safety Officer to ensure regular inspections of establishments involved in the manufacturing, storage, and sale of food products within the district. Strict action, in accordance with the law, must be taken against any establishment found to be in violation of the provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act.

The District Magistrate made it clear that no compromise regarding the health and safety of the general public will be tolerated. During the festive season, continuous monitoring of the quality of food items—especially sweets, ghee, oil, and other food products—must be maintained, and effective measures must be taken to prevent the production and sale of adulterated, unsafe, or substandard food items.

The Rohtas District Administration remains committed to ensuring that safe and high-quality food products are available to the general public.
