BHABHUA--------------------------Acting on a tip-off regarding the sale and distribution of stolen jewelry, the Bhagwanpur police conducted a raid near Matar village—within the jurisdiction of the Bhagwanpur police station—and arrested ten individuals. A tempo (three-wheeled vehicle) was also seized at the scene. All the arrested individuals are reported to be residents of various villages in the Buxar district.
Chandrashekhar Sharma, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Bhagwanpur, stated that following the receipt of confidential information, a police team—acting under his instructions—carried out a raid in the area between Matar Chowk and the residence of Paras Kewat. During the operation, the police surrounded and apprehended ten individuals who were standing near a tempo parked by the door of a house along the Kewa Canal Road.
Upon searching the premises, police discovered two purses hidden beneath bedding laid out on a cot. The purses contained items including a pair of silver anklets, a pair of toe rings, and earrings made of a gold-like metal. One of the recovered purses bore the name and address of a jewelry store located in the Rohtas district.
The police also seized the tempo from the site. The keys to the vehicle were recovered from Paras Kewat, who admitted during questioning that the tempo belonged to him and that the entire group had arrived at the location in that vehicle. However, no valid documentation for the tempo could be produced.
According to the police, about half of the arrested individuals appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. Subsequent medical examinations confirmed that six of them had consumed alcohol.
Following the arrests and the completion of necessary legal formalities, the Bhagwanpur police presented all ten individuals before the court, which subsequently remanded them to judicial custody.
