ARA---------------------------The police have achieved a major breakthrough in the murder case of Ram Kumar Singh, a retired official and president of the Kshatriya Kalyan Sangh. Five suspects, including the primary shooter Pawan Yadav, have been arrested. Three pistols used in the crime, an Apache motorcycle, and two helmets worn by the shooters have been recovered. Additionally, four magazines and ten live 7.65mm cartridges have been seized.
Following the arrests, an encounter took place between the police and the primary shooter, Pawan Yadav, during the recovery of the weapons. Pawan Yadav sustained a gunshot wound below the knee and is currently undergoing treatment at Sadar Hospital while in police custody. The encounter occurred early Friday morning near Sarangpur village, within the jurisdiction of the Muffassil police station. The injured shooter, Pawan Yadav, is the son of Nirmal Yadav—a resident of Ram Nagar Chandwa, under the Nawada police station area—and was initially arrested in the Sahar police station area.
Other arrested suspects include Ravishankar Singh (alias Hala Singh) from Dumra village (Muffassil police station area), as well as Aniket Kumar, Aman Kumar, and Priyanshu (alias Mani) from the Girja Mor and Pakhri areas (Nawada police station area). These three were apprehended from various locations in the city based on information provided by Pawan Yadav. They were involved in activities such as facilitating the exchange of weapons and providing shelter to the other suspects.
SP Awadhesh Dixit stated that a special team had been conducting raids to apprehend the suspects ever since the murder. On Thursday, the police received information that the primary shooter, Pawan Yadav, and other individuals involved in the crime were hiding in different locations. Acting on technical and human intelligence, the police launched raids, during which the primary shooter, Pawan Yadav, was taken into custody. Acting on his information, Hala Singh (alias Ravishankar Singh), Aniket, Aman, and Priyanshu (alias Mani) were arrested, and two pistols were recovered. The police team was taking Pawan to Sarangpur village to recover a third pistol. While in the vicinity of Sarangpur—following the recovery of the weapon—he opened fire on the police. In the ensuing retaliatory fire, he was struck in the knee and sustained an injury; the pistol was also seized. Including the two named suspects and the primary shooter, a total of ten accused have been arrested in this case so far.
According to reports, the police received information on Thursday night that the primary shooter in the murder case had been spotted in the Sahar area and was attempting to flee toward Patna. Acting on the instructions of Superintendent of Police (SP) Awadhesh Dixit, a team led by SDPO-1 Sushil Kumar cordoned off the Sahar area and arrested Pawan Yadav. Based on his disclosures, three other individuals involved in the murder were also arrested, and two pistols were recovered.
During interrogation, Pawan Yadav revealed that the third pistol used in the murder was hidden in the Sarangpur area. Consequently, in the early hours of Friday, the police took Pawan to Sarangpur village to recover the weapon. Upon locating the pistol in Sarangpur, Pawan Yadav suddenly opened fire on the police.
SP Awadhesh Dixit stated that despite being ordered to surrender, Pawan continued firing and attempted to escape. While the police personnel narrowly escaped harm, one bullet struck the bonnet of a police vehicle. The police returned fire, striking Pawan in the knee; he fell, sustaining an injury, and was subsequently taken into custody. The pistol was also seized.
Upon receiving news of the encounter between the shooter, Pawan Yadav, and the police, SP Awadhesh Dixit arrived at the scene. He conducted a thorough inspection of the crime scene and gathered detailed information regarding every aspect of the incident. Subsequently, the Superintendent of Police (SP) visited the hospital to question the injured shooter. An FSL (Forensic Science Laboratory) team also arrived at the scene to collect evidence.
At the site, the SP reviewed the actions taken so far, the evidence gathered, and the progress of the investigation with the police personnel and the investigating officer present. He emphasized the importance of ensuring the systematic collection of all necessary scientific and physical evidence from the scene with the assistance of the FSL team. Furthermore, he issued instructions to conduct an impartial, transparent, and legally sound investigation, and to take all necessary follow-up actions.
