ARA--------------------------A major smuggling syndicate has been uncovered following the arrest of heroin smuggler Bir Bahadur Singh, alias Bahadur Paswan, from the Bahiro area under the Nawada police station jurisdiction. According to the FIR filed by the police, a total of ten individuals—including his mother, wife, two brothers, and brother-in-law—are complicit in this illicit trade.

Investigations reveal that the accused’s wife was responsible for transporting consignments of heroin, while his mother assisted in shielding the operation from police intervention. Furthermore, his two brothers and brother-in-law were tasked with laundering and concealing the proceeds generated from the smuggling activities.

In this case, Bir Bahadur Paswan (alias Bahadur Paswan), his mother Phudena Devi, his brother-in-law Kamlesh Paswan, and Sandeep Paswan—a resident of Gausganj under the Nagar police station area—have been arrested. Kamlesh Paswan is a resident of Ghenghata village, located within the Mufassil police station jurisdiction. The arrests of his mother, brother-in-law, and Sandeep Paswan were made based on information provided by Bir Bahadur Paswan. One kilogram and 35 grams of heroin, a gold chain weighing 40.36 tolas, and one liter of a chemical substance used as an adulterant for heroin have been recovered from Bir Bahadur Paswan. Additionally, 298,000 rupees—proceeds from heroin trafficking—were seized from the home of Kamlesh Paswan. The gold chain recovered from Bir Bahadur Paswan was purchased using money earned through trafficking; this information is detailed in the First Information Report (FIR) filed by the police.

The FIR, registered based on the statement of Sub-Inspector Sachin Kumar of the Nawada police station, names nine individuals: Bir Bahadur Paswan, his mother Phudena Devi, his wife Asha Devi, his brothers Ajay Paswan (alias Collector Paswan) and Pawan Paswan, his brother-in-law Kamlesh Paswan, as well as Sandeep Paswan, Chhathu Paswan, and Badhu Paswan—all residents of Gausganj (under the jurisdiction of the Nagar police station). Among these, Badhu Paswan and Chhathu Paswan are brothers. Two unidentified mobile phone users have also been named as accused. The police are conducting continuous raids at various locations to apprehend the trafficker’s wife and brothers, who remain at large.

Acting on a tip-off received by Superintendent of Police Awadhesh Dixit, a joint team from the Nawada police station and the District Intelligence Unit (DIU) conducted a raid near the Bahiro Sun Temple on Monday. During the operation, the kingpin, Bir Bahadur Paswan, was arrested with one kilogram and 35 grams of heroin. Based on information provided by him, the police subsequently arrested his mother, Phudena Devi; his brother-in-law, Kamlesh Paswan (a resident of Ghenghata, under the Mufassil police station); and Sandeep Paswan (a resident of Gausganj, under the Nagar police station).
