BHABHUA------------------------The Bihar Police is conducting ongoing operations to strictly enforce the state's liquor prohibition law. In this effort, the Kaimur district police have achieved a significant breakthrough. Acting on secret information, the police carried out raids in the Nuaon and Kudhni police station areas, seizing 2,075 liters of 'English' (IMFL/foreign-style) liquor valued at approximately ₹20 lakh. During the operation, the police also impounded a pickup truck and a 'Tata Magic' vehicle—both used for smuggling—and successfully arrested a notorious smuggler.

The sequence of events began around 11:00 PM last night, when the Nuaon police received a tip-off that a large quantity of illicit liquor was being transported into Bihar via a white pickup truck. Upon receiving this information, the police immediately set up a blockade. The driver of the pickup managed to escape into the darkness, but a search of the vehicle revealed 1,059 liters of liquor. The police are currently searching for the absconding driver.

Separately, the Kudhni police also received intelligence that a consignment of liquor was being transported via a canal route in a 'Tata Magic' vehicle, passing through the Nuaon area. Acting swiftly, the police laid a trap along the reported route and intercepted the vehicle. A search of the 'Tata Magic' led to the recovery of 1,015 liters of liquor.

In this instance, the police arrested the driver at the scene. The arrested individual has been identified as Jai Prakash, a resident of Revatipur in the Ghazipur district of Uttar Pradesh. Mohania DSP Gopal Krishna confirmed the operation, informing the press that the Nuaon and Kudhni police stations—both falling under the Mohania subdivision—had jointly executed this successful mission. He stated that a total of 2,075 liters of illicit 'English' liquor (IMFL) was seized from two vehicles (a pickup truck and a Tata Magic van), with an estimated market value of approximately ₹20 lakh.

Preliminary questioning revealed that the liquor was brought from Uttar Pradesh and was intended for distribution across various parts of Bihar. As Kaimur district shares a border with Uttar Pradesh, it is often viewed by liquor smugglers as an accessible and 'safe zone.' Smugglers frequently attempt to enter Bihar carrying large consignments of liquor from UP. While the vigilance of the police often thwarts their plans, smugglers continue to devise new methods to sustain this illegal trade. Currently, police raids are underway to apprehend the driver, who remains at large.
