ARA--------------------------A middle-aged farmer from Buxar died in a tragic road accident on Wednesday afternoon within the jurisdiction of the Jagdishpur police station in Bhojpur district. On the Ara-Mohania National Highway, between the villages of Isadhi and Kitapur, a speeding tractor ran over a motorcyclist. The impact was so severe that the victim died on the spot.
According to eyewitnesses, the tractor driver abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene. Local villagers and the police were informed of the incident, which caused a brief period of chaos on the highway.
The deceased has been identified as 53-year-old Vijendra Ram, son of the late Gyanchand Ram and a resident of Bagen Gola village, under the jurisdiction of the Bagen Gola police station in Buxar district. He was a farmer by profession.
The victim’s brother-in-law, Pramod Kumar, explained that a son had been born to the victim’s son, Manan Kumar, at the Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH). Vijendra Ram had first visited his in-laws' village, Babhaniyanv (under the Jagdishpur police station area), to see his newborn grandson. He was on his way to Patna when he was struck by the tractor between Isadhi and Kitapur villages, resulting in his death.
Following the incident, when the tractor owner arrived at the scene, enraged villagers apprehended and assaulted him. Upon receiving the information, the police promptly arrived, brought the situation under control, took the tractor owner into custody, and seized the vehicle.
The Jagdishpur police have taken possession of the body and sent it to Ara Sadar Hospital for a post-mortem examination. The police are investigating the cause of the accident and conducting raids to locate the absconding tractor driver.
Vijendra Ram is survived by his wife, Pramila Devi, six sons—Chandan Kumar, Kundan Kumar, Manan Kumar, Nandan Kumar, Vishnu Kumar, and Pankaj Kumar—and a daughter, Arushi Kumari. The news of the tragedy has plunged the family into deep mourning; his wife, Pramila Devi, and other relatives are inconsolable.
