ARA---------------------------The Prohibition and Excise Department of Bhojpur district seized 201 litres of illegal foreign liquor concealed in a tractor and arrested its driver during a vehicle-checking operation on the Buxar–Patna Four-Lane Road.

According to the department, the seizure was made on October 22 near the Ratanpur passenger shelter under the Ara Muffassil police station area. Acting on confidential information about the transportation of illegal liquor into Bihar, an enforcement team conducted a vehicle inspection and discovered a hidden compartment in the tractor.

The seized consignment comprised 24 bottles of 8 PM Special Blend of Scotch whisky and 366 cans of Kingfisher Extra Special Strong beer, totalling 390 units and approximately 201 litres. The estimated market value of the liquor was around ₹3 lakh.

The arrested driver was identified as Rahul Kumar Chaudhary, a resident of Maniyach village under Pavna police station in Bhojpur district. He was taken into custody and subsequently handed over to the court for further legal proceedings.

The raid was conducted under the leadership of Prohibition Inspector Prakash Chandra, with other departmental officials and personnel assisting in the operation.

The department said that raids and vehicle-checking drives against illegal liquor transportation would continue as part of its enforcement efforts in Bihar, where the manufacture, sale and consumption of alcohol are prohibited.
