ARA------------------------------The District Magistrate of Bhojpur, Manesh Kumar Meena, and the Superintendent of Police, Bhojpur, Awadhesh Dixit, reviewed road safety and traffic management during a meeting of the District Road Safety Committee today. The meeting placed special emphasis on preventing road accidents, ensuring compliance with traffic rules, and facilitating safe and seamless movement for the public.
The District Magistrate directed officials from the Transport and Police departments to conduct regular vehicle inspection drives in coordination with each other. He instructed them to take strict action—as per regulations—against violations such as speeding, driving in the wrong direction, operating vehicles without helmets or seat belts, using mobile phones while driving, and other traffic rule infractions.
The District Magistrate underscored the need for coordinated action among relevant departments to implement necessary improvements at accident-prone locations and identified "black spots." This includes installing signage and reflectors, addressing hazards posed by damaged roads, and resolving traffic congestion caused by illegal parking, encroachments, and improper U-turns at major intersections.
Furthermore, the District Magistrate directed the Health Department to ensure prompt medical treatment for individuals injured in road accidents and instructed relevant officials to ensure the timely processing of compensation claims for affected families. Emphasis was also placed on driver training, promoting road safety awareness in schools, and launching widespread outreach initiatives to encourage and recognize individuals who assist accident victims.
The meeting was attended by the Civil Surgeon of Bhojpur, the Municipal Commissioner of Ara Municipal Corporation, the District Transport Officer, all Sub-Divisional Officers, all Sub-Divisional Police Officers, the Deputy Superintendent of Police (Traffic), the District Education Officer, Executive Engineers from the Road Construction Department and other relevant departments, the District Public Relations Officer, the President of the Truck Association, and other members of the committee.
