Citizens for Democracy, a civil rights group, organised a mock Parliament on the theme ‘Democracy vs Anarchy’ on Friday, October 30, 2026. Young participants took on the roles of prominent political leaders and debated recent political developments, representing both the ruling side and the Opposition while recreating parliamentary proceedings.

Several key issues, including the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), the role of the Election Commission, allegations of ‘vote chori’ and recent protests, were discussed during the session. Participants presented different viewpoints and examined the distinction between democratic dissent and anarchy.

The mock Parliament provided a platform for young people to engage with current political issues, understand parliamentary debates and express diverse perspectives. Through role-play, participants recreated the atmosphere of a parliamentary session and discussed questions concerning democratic institutions and electoral processes.

The event was organised alongside a separate mock Parliament session scheduled to be held at the residence of Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Friday. However, that programme was rescheduled for Saturday.
